Housing starts to moderate in 2009

OTTAWA, Oct. 30 /CNW Telbec/ - New home construction will moderate from historically high levels, to reach just under 178,000 units in 2009, a level that is consistent with demographic fundamentals, according to Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation's (CMHC) fourth quarter Housing Market Outlook, Canada Edition report.

Housing Starts Expected to Soften in BC

British Columbia's economy continues to trend above the national average, although further weakness in its exports is expected to restrain growth to 2.2 per cent in 2008 and 2.9 per cent in 2009, according to a provincial economic outlook released today by RBC.
