BC Lumber Manufacturers - Overview
Lumber manufacturers in British Columbia are situated throughout the province and range in size from small and medium size operations to very large companies. The variety of lumber products they manufacture vary depending upon species and technical capabilitiy.
In the Southern part of the province species like Pacific Hemlock, Western Red Cedar, Yellow Cedar, Douglas Fir and the Pines are found in large quantities. In the Northern part of BC White Spruce, Lodge Pole Pine and Alpine Fir comprise the spruce-pine-fir species group.
Some of the products manufactured from the species mentioned include dimensional lumber (pre-dimensioned wood) used in wood frame construction, finger jointer lumber (used in door jams, moulding and floors) and MSR (Machine Stress Rated) lumber.
